The DJ Dave music styles are focused mainly on the mainstream/ radio friendly content. The Second Life demographic is a highly diverse, international following. As a result, music styles, which go well outside of the mainstream, can often skew audience interest at the broader level. It is not to say that venues that decide to focus on one specific music style is bad, but that the DJ Dave Live show is more focused on a mainstream /international audience, while extending the interest of age demographic from 28, upwards to 45 years of age.
Therefore, all music be it in a slow jam venue, or a dance /party type of club is a broad mix of the hottest 80's, 90's, 2000's, up to present. Some variance in the weight of this mix is adjusted, depending on the needs of a specific venue. For example… In some sims, 80% of the content is 2007, to 2010 dance/ top40, while the remaining 20% is 80's and 90's hits, dance, classic rock, and a handful of hot 70's disco tunes.
All 80's is possible as well if that's what the venue wants. In this case, it's all the hottest 80's top 40, retro dance, new wave, and classic rock. From a music perspective, the fundamental objective of the DJ Dave show is to maintain music selection that is favorable to at least 80% or more of the audience at any given time. This is accomplished by avoiding crap content, which may tickle the fancy of a single soul, while your other 70 guests… Are looking at you as if to say… Wtf is this poop? LOL
In any social entertainment venue, music content will influence various types of social mindsets. In an ideal world, we could assume the posture that… Who cares about social mindset? Any will do. Establishing 'correct' social mindset is paramount to:
Granted, many of the SL class venue operators believe this will occur by the grace of God, or by fortunate happenstance. Got some bad news for you... It will not, for if that were the case… We would not have 700 entertainment based simulators sitting empty 99% of the time, while little more than 1.5% of SL venues capture 98% of the traffic 100% of the time :)
